Number of Cities in the U.S. Doubles in One Week as Boulder, Detroit, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Seattle and Others Commit to “Voting Earth” in the Largest Call to Action on Climate Change in History
March 4, 2009 – Washington, D.C. – World Wildlife Fund announced today that the largest, global call to action on climate change has reached a new milestone as more than 850 cities in 80 countries have officially signed on to turn off their lights during Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28th at 8:30 p.m. local time. Skylines of the world’s most dynamic cities will dim for one hour for the first ever Vote for Earth, where every flick of the light switch is a vote for our elected representatives to take immediate and lasting action on climate change.
Ann Arbor, Boulder, Detroit, Eugene, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Seattle and others join previously announced key cities in the U.S. Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York City and San Francisco for Earth Hour 09.
